While some kids beg their parents for a special pet, I remember coming up with all kinds of compelling reasons to convince my parents that I was ready to learn an instrument, just like my older siblings. At the age of 5, that dream became a reality as I started my piano study that continued through college. Learning to play a musical instrument is a lifelong skill with so many benefits. It is with this same motivation and a lifelong love of music and teaching that has allowed me to teach piano to a diverse set of students for 11 years, serve as a 4th grade classroom teacher for the last 5 years, and regularly play for church services, weddings, and other events. I was able to develop this passion while attending Wisconsin Lutheran College on an Oboe Scholarship. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and minors in Music and Mathematics in 2009.
My teaching philosophy revolves around the student. With my unique experience, I am well suited to work with the students of all ages and abilities to develop goals that allow the student to learn essential music theory while also continuing to grow a passion for music that will propel them forward. Each student has different learning styles and goals. As a teacher, I possess patience, creativity, and communication skills to know each student individually and help them reach their full potential.
